Phase zero is the first step in a 10-week Final Project for the DDSN360 course at Sacramento City College. This phase is an overview of what determines a bad, ugly, good and a usable website, from a UI/UX designer’s point of view.
The Bad
Shimano MTB bike parts site resulted in a bad user experience. Although, fast and pleasing to the eye, one of the flaws I found frustrating, was the fact that I could not navigate back out of the site which kept sending me back to the same site.

The Ugly
Old Soul Coffee, a Sacramento based coffee company, is a site completely outdated. The styles are meant to be retro, but it fails to deliver for the design, as well as the functionality are lacking. Additionally, some information such as the catering menu is not available on the site as a web page, but only as a PDF downloadable form.

The Good
Airbnb is a site that is up to date with the times. The site is intuitive, pleasing to the eye, fast, easy to navigate and mobile friendly. A couple of very good design elements are the profile icon and the footer section, which is tucked away and made visible in its entirety, at a click of a button.

The Usable
NextJS is a site that although is not outstandingly good looking, delivers on its promise. All the information the user might need is accessible within a couple of clicks. The site is extremely fast which can be attributed to using the latest front and back end development tools.
