Phase one

The Brief

The Brief is a document describing the project. Its main goal is to show the client what the project entails and the extent of your involvement as the designer. Once the client accepts the terms of the brief, it becomes a binding, alas living, document.

Problem

Planet Gymnastics of Sacramento (PGS) needs and upgrade to their current website, for there is a need to better communicate with current clientele as well as to attract new members. PGS realizes the need to modernize the website, as 75% of the clientele access the site during work hours on mobile phones. Research shows a high bouncing rate for new users ( >90%).

Goals

  • Decrease bouncing rate to < 70% for new users
  • Increase site speed
  • Make site responsive to various devices including:
  • desktops, laptops, iPads and phones.
  • Explore adding chat service to website

Audience

PGS audience are middle class parents with kids between 3 to15 yrs old and live in Sacramento. The parents are middle class professionals and live within 2.5 miles of PGS.
The average parent has a busy weekly schedule and the majority work out of home.

Issues with the current site

Planet Gymnastics:

  • The current site does not have a mobile version
  • Is slow
  • Outdated forms
  • No events or schedule calendar

The Client:

  • The audience can’t access the site on mobile
  • Need a payment platform
  • Needs an updated schedule of classes and calendar of events
  • Need information about the instructors and their credentials
  • Need an easy way to communicate with PGS via text or chat preferably

Proposed upgrades

Some suggestions for upgrades:

  • Design a mobile version of the site
  • Streamline the content of the site as some information can be put under one category
  • Add a payment platform such as Stripe or PayPal
  • Add an easy to update schedule and calendar of events
  • Create a new color scheme based on the site’s primary color (light blue) so as to maintain its identity.
